This man has the pellagra gloves (Jarrow, 2014).
What is pellagra?
"Pellagra is defined by the systematic disease resulting from niacin deficiency, and it is characterized by diarrhea, dermatitis, dementia, and death, which usually appear in this order."
-EMEDICINE
Pellagra is a vitamin B3 deficiency, also known as the amino acid tryptophan, which occurs because of the lack of niacin in the body. Pellagra causes a red rash that spreads all over the body and can drive people insane if left untreated. First, a victim will get diarrhea, then a red rash will form on their hands like gloves. On their feet the rash will look like boots, across their chest like a necklace, and finally on their face a butterfly shape will form. The symptoms go away in the winter, but come back in the summer worse than the year before. If not treated this can eventually cause mental issues. In some cases, people will try to kill themselves. If they are not driven insane, the disease will eventually kill them.
